YOUR FIRST CLASS
At Combat Sports Academy we fully realise just how daunting it can be to enter a gym for the first time. Rest assured that a warm welcome awaits you, not only from our dedicated team of staff but also by our current members.

For your first lesson you'll need the right equipment to train in. For most classes shorts and t-shirt is fine to train in but please don't wear anything with zips or buttons to avoid hurting your training partners.

If you're training BJJ, you'll need a gi. Please do not worry of you do not have one, a loose fitting hoody and joggers is fine for your first few sessions.

For MMA, boxing or Muay Thai classes you'll need a pair of MMA or boxing gloves. These are available to purchase at reception.
HYGIENE
At Combat Sports Academy we try to keep our mats as clean as possible. Our mats are cleaned daily to help stop the spread of skin infections. It's therefore very important that you:

1. DO NOT STEP ON THE MATS WITH OUTDOOR FOOTWEAR.

2. DO NOT WALK BAREFOOT OFF THE MATS.

3. USE THE ALCOHOL HAND RUB PROVIDED BEFORE AND AFTER TRAINING OR USING ANY GLOVES OR SHIN GUARDS.

4. DO NOT TRAIN WITH OPEN WOUNDS/SKIN INFECTIONS.
PROGRESS
You may find that your first class is very tiring! If you didn't bring your own drink you can buy one from reception!

Remember that whilst we want you to push yourself and train hard, please feel free to take a break if you need! Work at your own pace and don't worry about holding up the class! If you remind whoever you partner up with that it's your first or second class they'll be more than happy to help you out!

All members will start in an appropriate level class to ensure the safety of both themselves and other members and obtain a good knowledge of the sport. We will be happy to progress you on to Advanced/Higher levels of all disciplines when we consider you are ready to do so.

If you'd like to book into another class, just let the instructor know when you'd like to come back and they'll book you in!
